STATE RESPONSIBILITIES Under UIFSA/IRI Model |
|
LIMITED SERVICES §
Requests for Limited Services that are one-time and
usually manual do not require a
case to be built. Examples of these
kinds of requests include supplying copies of court orders, providing
assistance with service of process or genetic testing, and obtaining answers
for interrogatories or obtaining a party’s signature on a form. §
Requests for Limited Services that are typically
on-going, require document generation, payment processing and are usually
automated require a case to be built.
Examples of these kinds of requests include state tax offset, lottery
intercept, license suspension, establishment of paternity and establishment
of an order. §
All cases that are established in response to a
Limited Service request are reported to the Federal Case Registry and are
counted as cases on the Federal Reports. §
Case Manager States have the option of making Limited
Service requests to pursue specific enforcement remedies or they can request
all in-state (Responding State) enforcement remedies. §
Responding States have the option of pursuing the
specific remedy requested or all in-state remedies (except Federal
Administrative Offset and Credit Bureau Reporting) regardless of the request,
based on its policies and system capabilities. §
Case Closure remains an outstanding issue. In general, the thinking is that closure
criteria will need to be modified to meet the needs of UIFSA and the IRI
Model. |
